I think this is one of the most love filled poems I have ever written...



Princess

I was delighted when I first heard the news
A baby girl was coming into my life
I waited and waited for the months to go by
Anticipation of your arrival was my driving force
March 18 was the day you were born
I have never felt so much love in my life
When I took you into my arms when you were only fifty minutes old
You had both of my brothers’ hearts right from the start
Never have I seen two grown men fawn over someone like they did with you
Not even an hour old and you had your first sneeze
It was so adorable and small
Just like you
My brothers couldn’t get over how perfect you were
Ten little fingers and ten little toes
You were the one that stole all our hearts
You grew rapidly in the first two years
And were soon saying my name
You are perfect in every single way
And are my little princess

People say that you look so much like me
And I’m only your aunt
It is the biggest compliment I can receive
As you are so dear to me

I want to shield you from the world
To make your life perfect
You’re my little girl
And I never want a hair on your head harmed
I would take you away from this place if I could
And we could play all day
Locked up in a perfect world
Where no one could hurt you

And you’re only four
I have the rest of your years to look forward to yet
And it excites me to no end
You are completely gorgeous and I love you so much
